The Stroke Association makes every effort to behave in a socially responsible manner. You must be at least 18 years old to play our lottery and raffles, and we have measures in place to ensure we do everything in our power to control underage playing. The Weekly Lottery and raffles are an incentivised means of supporting the Stroke Association. However, before entering into any scheme which involves speculative spending, you are advised to remember the following:

• You should gamble only as a means of entertainment not to make money.
• You should only gamble as much as you can afford to lose.
• Before gambling, you should set yourself clear limits on how much you can afford to spend.

The Weekly Lottery is a draw that takes place every Friday. Each ticket you purchase gives you the chance to win a range of cash prizes. Each entry costs just £1.

All of the proceeds from each week’s lottery will go towards supporting vital services such as our Helpline, grants and support groups.

Register to play on our website by completing your Direct Debit details. Once you’ve registered, we’ll post out your welcome pack containing your unique 6-digit lottery number, your payment confirmation and the date of your first draw.

Starting from April 2024, any payments made will be collected as £5 rather than the previous £4.34 amount. This means we collect an extra 66p per month (per line) to cover additional entries in to our Summer Superdraws. Depending on when you join, you can have up to 8 extra lines in the Superdraw, giving you even more chance to win.

£4.34 will be used to credit your regular weekly lottery lines like before, but 66p will go into a new Summer Superdraw 'wallet'. Depending on how much your Summer Superdraw wallet has, will decide how many extra entries you receive.

In months where there are 5 weeks rather than 4 and your £4.34 portion of your monthly payment might not cover all your weekly lines, we'll use your Summer Superdraw credit to ensure your lines never get left out of the draw.

When taking payments, the Stroke Association use a secure payments system provided by our External Lottery Manager. This ensures your details are taken safely and securely when you enter the lottery online.

Following registration there are a number of administrative processes to complete, like verifying your payment details with your bank, claiming the funds from your bank account and the funds being received.

Every week, you could win the following prizes:

• 1st prize, £1,000,
• 2nd prize, £250
• 3rd prize, 25 lucky winners will get £10
• 4th prize, 100 lucky winners will get 5 prize entries
• Super Draw in December for a guaranteed £8,000.

If the 2nd prize isn’t won, it rolls over each week up to a maximum value of £10,000.

The draw takes place every Friday. We check the winning lottery numbers and winners are notified by post. All of the winning numbers are published on our website, here.

In 2022, after paying out prize money and running costs, the Stroke Association received 74p or 74% from every £1 spent in our lottery. We gave away 10% in prize money and spent 16% on the administration of the draw. Supporters had a 1 in 181 chance of winning a prize.

No, unfortunately the money collected through the sale of raffle tickets does not qualify for Gift Aid.

However, if you would like to make a goodwill donation on top of purchasing your raffle tickets, we can claim Gift Aid on your donation.

Please complete the Gift Aid information on your entry form so that we can claim Gift Aid on your behalf. Please read the declaration regarding Gift Aid carefully to ensure you are eligible.

For the Spring Raffle, the top prize is £5,000. You can also win the following cash prizes:

• 4th prize, £25 (20 prizes available)
• 5th prize, £10 (80 prizes available)

If you are one of our lucky winners, you don’t need to claim your prize as we will automatically send your winning cheque to you in the post.

During the 12 months ending 30 September 2022, 67p from every £1 ticket spent in our raffles went to help support the vital work of the Stroke Association. 11p was given away in prizes and 23p was spent on running the draw.

In our Summer Raffle, drawn on 8 September 2022, there was a 1 in 984 chance of winning a prize.
